Filantropi Indonesia has committed to contribute in reducing social problems through the establishment of Filantropi cluster. In 2018, there has been several clusters established and all of them are the result of collaboration between Filantropi and its member, partner, and network. One of the clusters which also planned to be established this year is Filantropi Food and Nutrition cluster. And this establishment of new cluster will be a collaboration with JAPFA Foundation. JAPFA Foundation will also be the lead of the cluster.

The sole reason why we need to establish this cluster is because the quality/condition of food security and nutrition is a very important element in increasing national productivity and improving the quality of life of the community. The provision of food must meet nutritional needs so that food security and improvement of nutrition are a unity. The state of community nutrition is a leading indicator of food security.

As the initial step, on Monday, August 13th 2018 we conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which is the first meeting for Filantropi Food security and nutrition cluster. The goals of the activity are to have FGD with other members in the cluster so that we can plan a strategy and get input from the participants and to see if there is opportunity to work together in the future.

The participant of the discussion are the representatives from philanthropy institution which engaged in the field related to nutrition, for example, Dompet Dhuafa (DD), Danone Institute, Rumah Zakat, Omar Niode Foundation, Food bank Indonesia, SUN Business Network (SBN) and Jakarta Pengusaha Sosial. There are 4 main purposes from Filantropi Food Security and Nutrition Cluster which are collaboration for mutual progress through Indonesian Philanthropy is formed, the implementation of SDGs goals number 2,3,4, and 17, a useful network, and supportive synergy and efficiency of the movement are formed.

JAPFA foundation who are the lead of the cluster is responsible to ensure that there will be benefit earned for philanthropy institutions who are joined in the cluster. Some of the benefits are receive monthly report, mapping from the stakeholders, receive the research data, capacity building, allowed to utilize the cluster to do a fundraising and etc.
