[Event] Indonesia Launches Philanthropy Partnership Platform
The Post-2015 Partnership Platform for Philanthropy in Indonesia was launched in Jakarta on April 13, 2015. The initiative seeks to identify opportunities and promote strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships for philanthropy’s collaborative engagement in the post 2015 Development Agenda, using that agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as common ground for collaborative development goals.
The Indonesian launch was a join initiative between the United Nation Development Programs (UNDP), Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Foundation Centre, Ford Foundation, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the MasterCard Foundation and the Association of Philanthropy Indonesia (Perhimpunan Filantropi Indonesia/PFI). A series of consultations with philanthropist, government representatives, and UN Agencies were held prior the platform launch to gather input on key issues and recommendations that will enable the partnership platform to best achieve its goals.
The workshop was opened by Indonesia UN Resident Coordinator Douglas Broderick, Co-Founder of Association of Philanthropy Indonesian Franky Welirang, and Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture HE Puan Maharani. With more than 140 participants from various philanthropic organizations and foundations, the private sector, the government of Indonesia, development partners, and academia, the workshop constitutes a stepping stone for philanthropists to contribute to the achievement of Indonesia’s SDG goals.
The Post-2015 Partnership Platform for Philanthropy (The Platform) is a global initiative that aims to facilitate international dialogue for collaboration, beginning in these pilot countries: Kenya, Colombia, Ghana and Indonesia. The platform focuses on philanthropy’s input in the developmental landscape by helping grant-makers better understand the opportunities for engaging in global development processes. The platform will also assist the governments, and the UN and its affiliated bodies in understanding the value of directly engaging philanthropic organisations, including their ability to amplify the input of their grantees and partners in towards the achievement of their goals.
