On Wednesday, August 2nd – Thursday, August 3rd, Filantropi Indonesia collaborated with In-Docs to conduct our Philanthropy Skill Share Forum (PSSF) for the 3rd time. This special training is held for two full days and was delivered by two highly skilled and experienced video and documentary makers. The first presenter was Amelia Hapsari, the Program Director of In-Docs, who has more than 15 years of film experience, and numerous wins across many local and international film festivals. The second trainer was Sidi Saleh whose reputation is also unquestionable. He is the winner of a number of international film festivals thanks to his work Maryam (2014), Fitri (2014) and Postcards from the Zoo (2012).
The participants in this training were quite diverse, from members of Filantropi Indonesia, community institutions, and companies. All participated enthusiastically and actively during the two-day training. On the first day of the morning session, Amelia and Sidi presented some basic theory and knowledge used in the making of documentaries such as characterization and storytelling.
PSSF 3 was possible thanks to the support of LAZISMU who provided the training rooms. Participants also received a special opportunity to visit the studios and editors of MU TV at MU's television station. Director of TV MU, Bpk. Gatot Triyanto also gave his time to share information about the history and programs of TV stations MU.
During the training, participants learned how to make a story proposal, decide which images best represent their story, and produce a short 1-3-minute video which they recorded and edited on their own. Although the training is short in duration, it is expected to increase the participants' knowledge and skills in producing quality documentaries for use in their organisations.
