The launch of Philanthropy and Business for SDGs (FBI4SDGs) Platform
FBI4SDGs is a platform where several corporations converged in an effort to support the government’s social programs, such as alleviation of poverty, coaching and empowerment for work force, and education assistance program. This forum later on will continue the work of the government in social program or CSR to help the society.
The initial founder of this platform is Perhimpunan Filantropi Indonesia (PFI), Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBSCD), Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), and Kamar Dagang Indonesia (Kadin) which is incorporated in Filantropi dan Bisnis Indonesia SDGs (FBI4SDGs – Philanthropy and Business for SDGs). FBI4SDGs affiliation has developed to become 14 associations which is a representative to approximately 500 corporations and philanthropy organizations.
On July 27th 2018, the Ministry of national development planning/ Head of BAPPENAS Bambang Brodjonegoro along with 15 associations who represented approximately 500 corporations has launched Filantropi dan Bisnis Indonesia untuk SDGs or FBI4SDGs (Philanthropy and Business for SDGs). He hopes that this activity will not only be implemented in central level entrepreneur, but also in regional level.
Franky Welirang as co-chair Steering Committee Filantropi Indonesia stated that businessman and professionals committed to support sustainable development. According to him, the private sector in national will take a role in supporting the government to achieve the sustainable development goals. The birth of FBI4SDGs is the prove that the private sector will take a role in supporting the government in SDGs achievement.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) itself is global development agreement which involved more than 10 head of states, and from Indonesia, was supported by vice president Jusuf Kalla in International UN Agenda for SDGs in September 25th 2015. Some of the goals in SDGs such as alleviation of poverty, reduce the economic gaps, and protect the environment is actually valid throughout Indonesia. To achieve the goals, it’s important for the government to play the right strategy for Indonesia to be able to apply SDGs in 2030
This platform has vision to improve the welfare and equity of Indonesians through various programs which support national SDGs achievement in 2013. Moreover, this platform also was created to facilitated SDGs implementation.
