As part of philanthropic institutions in Indonesia, BAZIS (Badan Amil Zakat Donation and Charity) and LAZIS (Amil Zakat Donation and Charity) could contribute to achieving the SDGs through the development of various programs that have been carried out. Zakat can be an alternative resource in supporting the SDGs by promoting an inclusive approach and strategic programs, long-term oriented and sustainable. Meanwhile, SDGs can be used as a measuring tool and guide the empowerment programs undertaken by various zakat management institutions.

So that zakat can be optimal role in strengthening SDGs, need to be supported by the theological legitimacy in the form of a clear fatwa about whether or not allowed to raise and utilization of zakat to support programs related to SDGs. Seeing the importance of theological justification in the form of fatwas of scholars in raising, management and distribution of zakat to support the achievement of program SDGs (Fiqh of Zakat on SDGs), Filantropi Indonesia and BAZNAS (Badan Amil Zakat Nasional) will hold Philanthropy Learning Forum (PLF) 18 with the theme Fiqh of Zakat On SDGs. The discussion aims to solicit input from scholars, activists charity, nonprofit philanthropic academics and activists for the preparation inisisiatif Fiqh of Zakat on SDGs that is initiated by BAZNAS cooperate with UIN Jakarta. The event is also intended as a halal bi halal event between the board of Filantropi Indonesia and BAZNAS with members, partners and networks.
