[Event] PFI Delegation Attends Philanthropy Engage in New York
The board members of Perhimpunan Filantropi Indonesia (PFI) received an invitation to attend an event held in New York on the 24th September 2014. The meeting was attended by individuals and groups engaged in philanthropic projects across the world. The event, called “Philanthropy Engage: Implementing and Achieving the Post-2015 Agenda”, aimed to discuss the role of philanthropy foundations in the Post-2015 Development Agenda, which is now better known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The event facilitated a discourse on how the philanthropic sector would play a role as the partner to governments, the United Nations, the private sector, and civil society in achieving those targets set by the SDGs. This event was held in line with the UN High Level Conference adopting the Post-2015 Development Agenda, which will be officially launched on 1 January 2016.
Present at the “Philanthropy Engage” event were 200 world figures from various sectors including philanthropy, business, government, UN bodies, and civil society. They all gathered to discuss the common goal of creating synergy on philanthropy through an SDG Philanthropy Platform. The delegation from PFI was comprised of the Board of Trustees, represented by Mr. Franky Welirang and Mrs. Erna Witoelar, and the Board of Commissioners represented by Mr. Timotheus Lesmana, Mrs. Suzanti Sitorus and Mr. Soegiono. In addition to the main event, the delegation also had meetings with some global philanthropic foundations such as the Food Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Conrad Hilton Foundation, the MasterCard Foundation, as well as many others.
