Many philanthropic institutions have long run various programs in the regions using various approaches and strategies, one of which is area-based development. Philanthropic institutions often work with local communities to build communication with the community, improve community services, and empower local communities.
The development of area-based programs for philanthropic activities is interesting to explore together by looking at the various elements and supporting structures so as to create a more effective impact. This is often associated with community development which aims to help local communities optimize their potential in achieving better social, economic, and cultural conditions than before. In encouraging collective action by local government, philanthropy, and business to contribute according to their capacity and resources, the synergy between these three key actors is essential and can be a major force in solving sustainable development challenges.
Therefore, the Indonesian Philanthropy Association (Filantropi Indonesia) in collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa held an interactive discussion through the Philanthropy Learning Forum with the title ‘Strengthening Area-based Philanthropic Contributions and Impacts for Sustainable Development‘. This interactive discussion will describe and explore various good practices in developing area-based programs for philanthropy by involving multi-stakeholders in order to support the achievement of SDGs and climate change from various sectors.
