Mrs. Yunita Triwardani W.
Prof. Dra. M.A. Yunita Triwardani Winarto, M.S., M.Sc., Ph.D. is an Emeritus Professor in Anthropology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia; the Academy Professor Indonesia in Social Sciences and Humanities under the auspices of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) (2006—2011), and a member of the Cultural Commission of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI). She received her bachelor’s from Padjadjaran University, her first and second degrees in anthropology from Universitas Indonesia, also a Master of Science in environmental technology from the Centre of Environmental Technology, Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine (UK), with the option in Ecological Management, and a Ph.D. degree in anthropology from the Department of Anthropology, the Australian National University. Her field of studies is in Human Ecology and Public Anthropology, with research and collaborative works on farmers’ empowerment and creativity, the dialectics between scientific and local knowledge in the areas of integrated pest management, food security-sustainability-sovereignty, and farming’s response to climate change and variability. In collaboration with a Dutch agrometeorologist, she introduced agrometeorological learning in the Science Field Shops in 2008 to help farmers cope better with climate change. She is the author of Seeds of Knowledge: The beginning of Integrated Pest Management in Java (2004); the editor of Agrometeorological Learning: Coping Better with Climate Change (edited with C.J. Stigter, 2011), some edited books in Indonesian, various articles in national and international refereed journals, and chapters in edited books.
