Throughout 2021, Indonesia Philanthropy’s work programs focused on two main objectives: supporting the philanthropy ecosystem by developing institutional capacity and fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration, as well as accelerating vaccination for vulnerable groups.These priorities were set in response to the COVID-19 recovery efforts in Indonesia.
The development of the philanthropy ecosystem was also implemented internally within the organization, starting with governance reforms, the formulation of a strategic plan, and the appointment of a new Executive Director in October 2021. Additionally, Indonesia Philanthropy began enhancing member capacity through training sessions, including a workshop ondigital fundraisingIn its role of supporting government programs to accelerate vaccination, Indonesia Philanthropy undertook several initiatives, such as advocating to government authorities to enable vulnerable groups to access vaccinations without preconditions, particularly for those in critical need. Initial vaccination rollout efforts began in August 2021, in collaboration with local partners and regional governments across various locations in Indonesia.
Moreover, Indonesia Philanthropy developed the 'Research, Publication, & Policy Center' pillar, aimed at raising public awareness and monitoring the evolving role of philanthropy in Indonesia. This included introducing the Code of Ethics for Indonesian Philanthropy and advocating for COVID-19 vaccinations without ID number (NIK) requirements for vulnerable groups..
