In this digitalization era, the number of digital donations has increased, especially during COVID-19. However, there are several code of ethics in philanthropy that are often ignored by fundraisers in order to gain support from the public. For example, there are still fundraising campaigns with hostility towards certain religion and ethnic, and strategies that exploit the grief and suffering of victims. This is because the ethical issues of digital philanthropy are slightly different than conventional philanthropic activities.
What are the ethical issues of philanthropy that occur in the digital platform? How should we do fundraising without breaking the philanthropic code of ethics?
In this month’s 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙮 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙪𝙢 online: 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘆 Code of 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 Era, we will discuss philanthropic code of ethic and guidelines in minimizing ethical issues in philanthropic activities and charity. The forum will try to map various ethical issues in digital donation activities and examine various organizational efforts to overcome these problems. The forum will also discuss the challenges of reinforcing the newly launched Indonesia’s philanthropy code of ethics. Furthermore, we will explore various practical tips to avoid ethical problems in digital philanthropic activities.
